These pants are made using old Japanese linen cloth.

The outer material is flax, probably from the early Showa era, and the lining is ramie, from the Meiji to Taisho eras.

The outer material was originally sewn by hand into a block shape, and its purpose at the time is unknown, but the texture of the persimmon tannin dyed with a hit and the swaying movement that is unique to linen are exquisite. I was a little worried about the strength of the original stitching to wear it as pants, so I reinforced all the parts from the back so as not to spoil the atmosphere. If there is any fraying in the future, we can repair it, so please contact us.

The lining is made of hemp (ramie) kimono from the late Meiji to Taisho periods. The fabric is densely woven with fine threads and is smooth to the touch, making it extremely comfortable to wear.

The front top and back pocket buttons are French antique papier mache buttons made by compressing paper and hardening it with glue.
Papier mache was originally created with Japonism in mind in the West, with Japanese lacquerware in mind.
Even though more than 100 years have passed, I find it interesting that papier mache buttons are attached to jackets made from old Japanese cloth.

The buttons are attached one by one with hand-made root wraps. The buckle is an old Japanese one. The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.

Cotton thread is used to match the vintage atmosphere.

Compared to today's prosperous times, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different from what was expected of them. I feel that Japanese fabrics are wonderful fabrics made by people that can be proud of around the world. Please feel the fabric that has been reborn as pants .

Why not incorporate good old things into your daily life that are not found in modern times?

*This work was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. It might not be obvious at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the loose seams that are created by hand rather than electric.

*The fabric is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.

Please feel free to contact noraadd.1118@gmail.com for any inquiries regarding the work .
