This sailor hat is made from traditional Japanese indigo-dyed linen fabric.

The fabric used is made from unwrapped indigo-dyed linen kimonos from the Taisho to early Showa periods.

The fabric has a unique texture that is firm but also sways and moves with a certain movement. The fabric is woven with slightly thick threads, so it feels light to the touch, but has a sense of weight and dignity. The indigo dye is still strong, so you can enjoy watching it change over time.

Compared to today's affluent times, these fabrics were made in harsh times when people were poor and had nothing else, and when the norms of the world were completely different. They have a unique atmosphere that could not be created even if one wanted to.

The fabric used for the lining is also old linen cloth of the same age, and the other parts such as the inner tape and piping tape are all made from old Japanese linen cloth. It is breathable and easy to wear.

Vintage Japanese fabrics tend to bring to mind images of traditional Japanese clothing, but when you look at the fabric without being bound by that stereotype, you will see that they are exquisite, elaborately crafted fabrics that can be proudly shown off to the world.

 *This fabric is nearly 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for many years to come, we recommend that you wash it by soaking it in water and spin-dry it gently in a laundry net.
