This is a SAILOR HAT made from old Japanese cotton fabric.

The fabric used is an old woven cloth that was woven around the Taisho era. Saki-ori is a textile that has been passed down in Japan since ancient times, in which clothes that are no longer worn can be torn into small pieces by hand and rewoven.

The warp is hemp thread (probably hemp), and the weft is made from split silk kimono and cotton kimono. Perhaps because it is made of silk, the threads that have been torn and twisted have frayed and the surface of the cloth appears to be brushed. It creates a wonderful atmosphere that feels indescribably uneven and loose, with no artificiality.

Compared to today's prosperous times, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different from what was expected of them. Makes me feel.

The fabric used for the lining is an old silk striped cloth from the same era, and the slip (inside tape) and piping tape are all made from Japanese old cloth.

Japanese old cloth tends to have a strong image of Japanese clothing, but when you look at the fabric without being bound by that stereotype, you realize that it is a wonderful fabric that has been hand-crafted and that can be proud of to the world.

Why not incorporate good old things into your daily life that are not found in modern times?

 *The fabric is made nearly 100 years ago. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
