NORA BAG ~ type newspaper ~ japan old linen fabric

This is a news paper bag made from old linen cloth from the Meiji era of JAPAN VINTAGE , based on the bag used by newspaper delivery staff.

For the table cloth, we used the cloth from the mosquito nets of the Meiji era. I think you've seen mosquito nets in movies, but it's a cloth that you hang to prevent mosquitoes and small insects from entering. Most of the cloths are woven roughly so that insects do not enter, but this is a rare cloth that is more clogged than normal cloth.

It was difficult to make a work if it was rough, but I hadn't used it until now, but this time the fabric had a good color and atmosphere, so I finished it as a welcome bag.

Since it is woven with a slightly coarser thread of hemp, it has a rough texture, but it has a fluttering movement unique to hemp, and it is the best texture including color.

The lining is Japanese indigo dyed old cloth from the early Showa period. In order not to lose the atmosphere of the table, we use the parts that have been repaired at that time and have grown up in a good atmosphere. Although it is not visible, please enjoy the atmosphere of old cloth throughout the bag.

The button used a French vintage animal button. It is a button with a considerable presence even with just one. The force button also uses a vintage shell button.

The buttonholes are hand-sewn to match the old fabric, and the lining is also hand-sewn. We would like you to enjoy the atmosphere by seeing it as a specification that suits old fabrics.

The length of the shoulder belt is not adjusted, and the accessory is a simple design with only the button used for closing.

Enjoy a bag in which old Japanese and French things are in harmony with each other.

* This work is all sewn with an old foot-operated sewing machine. At first glance, you may not understand it, but I hope you enjoy the "fluctuation" -like seams that come out because of human power rather than electric power.
