This bag is made from Japanese rags, with the design source being a bag used by postal workers.

BORO refers to used cloth, worn and torn clothing, or clothing full of patches. Sashiko is a handicraft technique that has been passed down in Japan since ancient times, and is used to strengthen damaged cloth and protect it from the cold. It is said that it began with sashiko stitching on clothing for the sake of people.

The BORO used on the front was originally worn as noragi at the time.

They are used in people's daily lives, washed, cloth is applied to strengthen damaged areas and protect against the cold, and sashiko is applied to create BOROs that have a nice atmosphere.

The texture of the fabric is soft, and compared to the modern era of abundance, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different.The expression of the fabric was created in a time when you couldn't make it even if you wanted to. You can feel the unique atmosphere that can only be found here.

The fabric inside is also made from old cotton cloth with a good Japanese feel. Although there are some stains and dirt, it is growing in a good atmosphere.

The flap buttons are vintage French animal buttons, the small pocket buttons that attach when the flap is opened are wood buttons, and the inside pockets are shell buttons.

The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.

The shoulder belt is designed to be fastened by passing it through a hole and tying it. You can adjust it to your desired length by tying the knot.

*This work was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the loose seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.
