NORA BAG~type postman~japan old indigo cotton
This bag is made from old Japanese indigo-dyed cloth, with the design source being a bag used by postal workers.
The fabric used is old cotton indigo-dyed cloth woven from the Taisho to early Showa periods. Since the indigo dye remains strong, it will be interesting to see how it will grow over time as it is worn.
Compared to today's prosperous times, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different from what was expected. I feel it.
The inside fabric is also made from old Japanese cotton fabric with a good texture.
The flap buttons are French vintage wood buttons, the small pocket buttons that attach when the flap is opened are metal buttons, and the inside pockets are shell buttons.
The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.
The shoulder belt is designed to be fastened by passing it through a hole and tying it. You can adjust it to your desired length by tying the knot.
Japanese old cloth tends to have a strong image of Japanese clothing, but when you look at the fabric without being bound by that stereotype, you realize that Japanese fabric is a quality fabric that can be proud of to the world and is made by people.

*This work was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the loose seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.
