NORA DOUBLE JACKET ~boro fabric~

Based on the details of an old French work jacket, this work is made using boro.

BORO refers to the cloth used for worn-out, torn or patched clothing, and Sashiko is an ancient Japanese handicraft technique used to reinforce damaged cloth and protect it from the cold. It is said that sashiko was the beginning of this process.

The BORO used for the front was originally used as a futon or a rug.

It has been used in people's daily lives for more than 100 years. It has been washed and used for generations to reinforce damaged areas and protect against the cold. I grew up in BORO. The texture of the fabric is soft, and it has a gentle atmosphere because it has been living for a long time.

This is a piece with various old cloths applied to the main stripes. The moderately applied fabric and the hand-sewn stitches of the unbleached cotton thread are good accents, creating a good atmosphere.

The lining is also made of old Japanese cotton fabric that feels good on the skin. If you compare comfort to the softness of the fabric, it feels like you are wrapped in a futon.

The button is a French vintage bone (bone) button. At first glance, it looks like wood, but no chemical dyes are used, and natural dyes are used over and over until the color is just right. Please enjoy the buttons with different expressions one by one. In addition, vintage glass buttons are used for the power buttons, and each one is attached with a hand-wrapped neck. Buttonholes and clasps are hand-sewn to match the atmosphere of old fabrics. I think that you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by machines.

You can't get the exact same fabric, and even if you do, you can't make the same thing twice. I feel that the cloth that is sewn by hand stitch by stitch gives a truly rich expression to each piece.

*This work is sewn entirely with an old treadle sewing machine. You may not understand it at first glance, but I hope you will enjoy the "fluctuation" of the seams that can only be produced by human power rather than by electric power.

*It will be the fabric of nearly 100 years ago. In order to enjoy it for a long time, please wash it after soaking it, and put it in a net for dehydration and turn it lightly.
