NORA DOUBLE JACKET ~ sashiko fabric ~

It is a work made using old Japanese indigo dyed sashiko, adopting the specifications found in old French workwear, based on the design base of the Japanese National Railways jacket made in 1946.

It is a Japanese National Railways jacket based on the shape, but because it is a raglan sleeve, the shoulder line will fall off nicely. Since the width of the body is wide at the hem, it has an A-line silhouette, and it has a comfortable size that you can wear even if you wear a knit inside.

The pockets, cuffs, and collar shape are the same as those found on old French jackets.

Sashiko is a handicraft technique that has been handed down in Japan for a long time, and it is said that it started with sashiko on clothing to reinforce damaged cloth and protect against the cold. The fabric on the table is the stray clothes that were worn over 100 years ago in Akita. Two layers of cotton fabric are layered and hand-sewn with indigo-dyed thread to make fine sashiko.

The surface of this sashiko is lightly stabbed so that the threads can be seen, and it seems that you can feel the desire of the sushi to make the surface inconspicuous and not cracked. It is not just hand-sewn, but is sewn by a reliable technique, and the force is exquisite and there are things that can only be done by human hands.

The indigo color remains dark, so I'm looking forward to the changes over time.

This time, it was made after unraveling three sashiko stray clothes and returning them to the state of the fabric. We use stray clothes with different sashiko stabs such as front body, back body, sleeves, and collar, and put them together in one outfit.

For example, in the upper front, the fabric that has undergone a little aging, and in the lower front, the fabric that has a fine sashiko, although the aging is yet to come. Please enjoy the atmosphere of the sashiko and fabric seen in each part.

At first glance, the jacket is simple but feels like a strong vitality made to overcome the harsh winter in the Tohoku region.

The lining is made of old Japanese cloth and is sewn by hand using a cotton cocoon bag with a good taste. Please enjoy the unique sewing taste of hand-sewn.

The button is a French vintage wood button.

Buttonholes and can stoppers are hand-sewn to match the atmosphere of old fabrics. You can feel the warmth that machines can't put out.

Button attachment is a hand-made root wrap that uses an old glass button as a force button.

Cotton thread is used for the thread to match the vintage atmosphere.

It's a simple but detailed piece of clothing.

* This work is all sewn with an old foot-operated sewing machine. At first glance, you may not understand it, but I hope you enjoy the "fluctuation" -like seams that come out because of human power rather than electric power.

* The fabric is nearly 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time, please wash it with a soak and spin it lightly by putting it in the net for dehydration.
