NORA JACKET~Japan old indigo linen fabric~

Only left in stock

It was created using old Japanese linen cloth, with the image of a work jacket that would have been made in an era before the creation of mass production processes, when various things had not yet developed, regardless of the country. This is a work that I did.

The fabric is a linen kimono that was worn from the Meiji period onwards. It is dyed with ink or something like that over the indigo pattern dyeing, giving it a unique color. It is a very stylish cloth, with a pattern that is so detailed that it looks plain from a distance, but when you look at it up close, you can see the pattern.

The fabric has the sway and movement that is unique to linen, and the fabric is densely woven with thin threads, making it look light at first glance, but it has a nice atmosphere and a nice look to it. There is something special about the texture of the fabric, as if it were falling under the weight of the fabric.

In order to take advantage of the texture of the outer material, the lining is made of old linen cloth, and all other small parts are also made of linen cloth.

The buttons are French antique papier mache buttons made by compressing paper and hardening it with glue.
Papier mache was originally created with Japonism in mind in the West, with Japanese lacquerware in mind.
Even though more than 100 years have passed, I find it interesting that papier mache buttons are attached to jackets made from old Japanese linen.

Vintage shell buttons are used for the power buttons, and each one is attached by hand with a neck wrap. The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.

Cotton thread is used to match the vintage atmosphere.

Compared to today's prosperous times, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different from what was expected of them. I feel that Japanese fabrics are made by people around the world and are of high quality. Please feel the fabric that has been reborn as pants .

Why not try incorporating good old things into your daily life that are not found in modern times?

*This piece was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the loose seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.

*This is a fabric that is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
