Since cotton does not grow in the Tohoku region, hemp (hemp) cloth was widely distributed. The definition of Nanbu hemp is not clear, but it is hemp cloth made from cannabis found in Iwate Prefecture. I heard that there are many stripes, so this cloth may be a representative cloth that was widely distributed at that time.

The fabric has a unique swaying and moving feel that is unique to hemp, and the fabric woven with thick threads has a heavy feel, and the weight of the fabric makes it feel like the fabric is falling.
