The design is based on a Japanese shirt from the early 1900s, and is made using old Japanese linen cloth.
The shirt the design is based on is from CHOYA SHIRT, a long-established shirt brand founded in 1887, and the shirt the design is based on is one from the early 1900s. The design at the front, the cut at the hem, and the gathers at the back give it a very nice feel.
The fabric used is linen striped long kimono that was woven and worn around the early Showa period.
The fabric has a unique swaying and moving feel that is unique to linen, and although the fabric is woven with thin threads and looks light at first glance, it has a nice look with the original atmosphere of the fabric. There is something special about the texture of the fabric, as if it were falling under the weight of the fabric. It's not a dark indigo dye, but a striped pattern woven with black and white linen thread.
When making a shirt, the sleeves are hand-sewn as an afterthought, and the buttonholes are also hand-sewn. It may be a little more comfortable to wear and the buttons may not fit, but I would like people to see it as a specification that is more suitable for old fabrics and enjoy the warmth of handiwork that cannot be produced by machines.
The buttons are old Japanese wood buttons dyed with ink, and the buttons are attached using a bird's foot method. By shifting the center of gravity, one side floats, making it easier to attach. This is a meaningful way to attach it, but please enjoy it as one of the small points we paid attention to.
Cotton thread is used to match the vintage atmosphere.
Compared to today's prosperous times, the fabrics that were born in harsh times when people were poor and had nothing else but the world was completely different, have a unique atmosphere that can only be created at that time even if you wanted to, and I think that Japanese fabrics are wonderful fabrics that are made by people and can be proud of to the world. Please feel the fabric that has been reborn as a shirt .
Why not try incorporating good old things into your daily life that are not found in modern times?
*This piece was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the loose seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.
*This is a fabric that is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
