This is a SAILOR HAT made from old Japanese cotton fabric.

The fabric used was the fabric used for jodhpur pants made in the Showa era, probably during and after the war.

The plain weave fabric has thin white cotton threads interspersed with dark gray cotton threads that give it a slightly rough feel, giving it a unique look that is different from neatly woven cloth. Compared to today's prosperous times, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different.The expression of the cloth is something that can only be created in that era, something that cannot be created in modern times even if we wanted to. I feel it.

The fabric used for the lining is old cotton striped cloth from the same era, and the slip (inside tape) and piping tape are all made from Japanese old cloth.

Japanese old cloth tends to have a strong image of Japanese clothing, but when you look at the fabric without being bound by that stereotype, you realize that it is a wonderful fabric that has been hand-crafted and that can be proud of to the world.

*The design is based on the U.S. Navy's sailor hat, so the brim has detailed stitching just like the hats of the time. Please enjoy the look of finely detailed stitching.

 *The fabric is made nearly 100 years ago. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
