BORO BAG~type newspaper~ meiji-taisho
Based on the design of the bags used by American newspaper carriers, this news paper bag is made using boro.
BORO refers to the cloth used for worn-out, torn or patched clothing, and Sashiko is an ancient Japanese handicraft technique used to reinforce damaged cloth and protect it from the cold. It is said that sashiko was the beginning of this process.
The BORO cloth used for the front is a cloth from the late Meiji to Taisho periods that has been used in people's daily lives for over 100 years. I grew up with BORO (boro), which has been made with fabrics and sashiko for generations and has a good atmosphere. The texture of the fabric is soft, and I feel a gentle atmosphere because I have lived for a long time.
Various old cloths are sewn, but this was sewn for repair at that time. There is no artificiality and you can feel the natural texture. I think you can feel a unique atmosphere that is different from the current era even from a single sewing thread.
The inside fabric is made of old cotton fabric with a good Japanese texture.
The buttons used French vintage animal buttons. Even just one button has a strong presence. The power button is also a vintage shell button.
The buttonholes are hand-stitched and the lining is hand-stitched to match the old fabric. I would like you to see it as a specification that matches the old fabric and enjoy the atmosphere.
It is a simple design with only the button used to close the attached part without adjusting the length of the shoulder belt.
I make use of damage and fraying as they are. You can't make the same thing twice.
Please enjoy the one and only one-of-a-kind bag.

*This work is sewn entirely with an old treadle sewing machine. You may not be able to tell at first glance, but I hope you will enjoy the "fluctuation" of the seams, which can only be achieved by human power rather than by electric power.
*It will be the fabric of nearly 100 years ago. In order to enjoy it for a long time, please wash it after soaking it, and put it in a net for dehydration.
