This bag was created using old Japanese checkered cotton cloth, with the design source being a bag used by postal workers.
The fabric used is old cloth with residual threads woven around the early Showa period. As the name suggests, it is a cloth woven by combining leftover threads, and the striped pattern of various threads gives it a richly expressive and pleasant atmosphere. Old lattice cloth is sewn in place where there are holes due to use.
Compared to today's prosperous times, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different from what was expected of them. I feel it.
The fabric inside is also made from old cotton fabric with a good Japanese feel.
The flap buttons are French vintage animal buttons, the small pocket buttons that attach when the flap is opened are metal buttons, and the inside pockets are shell buttons.
The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.
The shoulder belt is designed to be fastened by passing it through a hole and tying it. You can adjust it to your desired length by tying the knot.
Japanese old cloth tends to have a strong image of Japanese clothing, but when you look at the fabric without being bound by that stereotype, you realize that Japanese fabric is a quality fabric that can be proud of to the world and is made by people.
Why not incorporate good old things into your daily life that are not found in modern times?
*This work was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the "fluctuation"-like seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.
*The fabric is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
Please feel free to contact noraadd.1118@gmail.com for any inquiries regarding the work .
