This bag was created using old Japanese checkered cotton cloth, with the design source being a bag used by postal workers.
The fabric used is old cloth with residual threads woven around the early Showa period. As the name suggests, it is a cloth woven from leftover threads. The cloth is woven in a checkered pattern using leftover indigo and white threads, and the thickness of the threads varies depending on the location, and the arrangement of the threads is uneven, giving it a nice, casual feel. is exuding.
The lining is also made from Japanese old cloth. Since we used old cloth with a rough weave similar to the outer material, the overall finish has a soft texture.
The flap buttons are old Japanese wood buttons dyed with ink, and the small pocket buttons that attach when the flap is opened are old French wood buttons. The inside pocket uses old shell buttons.
The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.
The shoulder belt is designed to be fastened by passing it through a hole and tying it. You can adjust it to your desired length by tying the knot.
Compared to today's prosperous times, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different from what was expected. I feel it.
Why not try incorporating good old things into your daily life that are not found in modern times?
*This work was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the ``fluctuation''-like seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.
*This is a fabric that is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
