This is a casquette made using old Japanese cotton fabric.

The fabric used was a cotton fabric that was dyed black around the early Showa period, and its intended use is unknown, but it is a fabric that was dyed black at the time. It is a fabric with just the right thickness and a slightly firm texture, and the wrinkled areas have turned white, giving it a cracked appearance. The texture is just right, and it creates a natural, very nice look and atmosphere. The color is not jet black, but rather an inky black, with a nice worn-in look that changes with time.

The fabric used for the lining is also old linen cloth of about the same age, and the other parts such as the suberi (inner tape) and piping tape are all made from old Japanese fabric. Although they are not visible, matching the tastes creates a sense of unity.

Compared to today's affluent times, the texture of fabrics born in harsh times when people were poor and had nothing but what was common in the world is completely different. You can feel the unique atmosphere of that era, which you couldn't create even if you wanted to, and I think Japanese fabrics are wonderful, elaborate fabrics that can be proudly shown to the world.
