This hat is made using old Japanese linen fabric.

The fabric used is an indigo-dyed vintage hemp and cotton cloth woven between the Meiji and Taisho periods. It has a rough weave using thick threads, with the warp thread being hemp (hemp) and the weft being an interesting thread. Three threads are twisted together to make one, two being cotton and one being hemp. Vintage Japanese fabrics are so fascinating that it's hard to know what to look at. The inclusion of cotton gives the surface a slightly fuzzy, somewhat rough, and unique look. The indigo dye is still intact, so I think it will become more comfortable over time and age nicely depending on the wearer's lifestyle.

The fabric used for the lining is also old linen cloth of about the same age, and the other parts such as the suberi (inner tape) and piping tape are all made from old Japanese linen cloth. Although these are parts that cannot be seen, matching the tastes creates a sense of unity.

Compared to today's affluent times, the texture of fabrics born in harsh times when people were poor and had nothing but what was common in the world is completely different. You can feel the unique atmosphere of that era, which you couldn't create even if you wanted to, and I think Japanese fabrics are wonderful, elaborate fabrics that can be proudly shown to the world. Please try and feel the fabric that has been reborn as a hat.

 *The fabric is nearly 100 years old. To ensure you can enjoy it for many years to come, we recommend washing it in a soaking wash and gently spin-drying it in a laundry net.
