NORA SMOCK~japan old hemp fabric~

This item is made using old Japanese hemp (cannabis) fabrics and is based on a French fisherman's smock.

The fabric used is old linen cloth that was probably woven during the Meiji to Taisho eras. The type of hemp is hemp, and it is made from three old kimonos. The body is made of linen fabric with thick threads and a coarse weave, the sleeves are made of linen fabric with thin threads and a fine weave that feels nice to the touch, and the pockets are made of a similar coarse fabric to match the body.

All of the fabrics have a swaying and moving texture that is unique to linen, and the expressions of the fabrics that were born in a harsh era where the world was completely different from the prosperous modern times, are impossible to create even if you wanted to. You can feel the unique atmosphere that can only be found in that era.

The buttons are vintage French bone buttons. At first glance, it looks like wood, but instead of using chemical dyes, it is dyed with natural dyes over and over again until it reaches the desired color. Enjoy each button with a different expression.
Ciel buttons are used for the power buttons, and each one is attached by hand with a neck wrap. The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.

Cotton thread is used to match the vintage atmosphere.

I think that Japanese fabrics are good fabrics with a carefully crafted expression that can be proud of around the world. Please try incorporating good old items that have been reborn as clothes into your daily life.

*This piece was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the ``fluctuation''-like seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.

*This is a fabric that is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
