These pants are made using old Japanese striped cotton cloth.
The fabric is an old cloth from the Meiji era, and three thin threads are twisted into one thread, and three more threads are twisted together to make one thick thread, which is used as the weft, and the warp is the weft. It is woven from relatively thin cotton thread compared to the original. There are weft thread seams throughout, giving it a nice uneven look.
It has a soft cotton feel and is heavy, so it has an exceptional feeling of falling.
The front top and back pocket buttons are French antique papier mache buttons made by compressing paper and hardening it with glue.
Papier mache was originally created with Japonism in mind in the West, with Japanese lacquerware in mind.
Even though more than 100 years have passed, I find it interesting that papier mache buttons are attached to clothes made from old Japanese cloth.
The buckle is also made from an old French item. The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.
Cotton thread is used to match the vintage atmosphere.
Compared to today's prosperous times, people were poor and that was all they had, and the world was completely different from what was expected of them. I feel that Japanese fabrics are wonderful fabrics made by people that can be proud of around the world. Please feel the fabric that has been reborn as pants .
Why not incorporate good old things into your daily life that are not found in modern times?
*This work was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the loose seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.
*This is a fabric that is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
Please feel free to contact noraadd.1118@gmail.com for any inquiries regarding the work .
