NORA WORK PANTS~japan old hemp fabric~Nanbu hemp
These pants are made using old Japanese hemp indigo dyed cloth.
The fabric was originally used as a long dress (kimono), and originally had stripes on the surface, but the front and back are reversed to create pants. Considering that hemp thread was used for the sewing thread, it may be a little older cloth.
Since cotton does not grow in the Tohoku region, hemp (hemp) cloth was widely distributed. The definition of Nanbu hemp is not clear, but it is hemp cloth made from cannabis found in Iwate prefecture.
The fabric has a unique swaying and moving feel that is unique to hemp, and the fabric woven with thick threads has a heavy feel, and the weight of the fabric makes it feel like the fabric is falling.
The expression of cloth born in a harsh era where the world was completely different from the richer modern era, where there was nothing but poverty, makes me feel a unique atmosphere that can only be found in that era.
The indigo dye remains dark in the fabric, so you can enjoy it for a long time while enjoying the changes over time.
The button is a French antique papier mache button made by compressing paper and hardening it with glue.
This papier-mâché was originally made with Japanese lacquerware in mind as part of the Japonism that was popular in the West.
More than 100 years later, I find it interesting that a jacket made of old Japanese fabric has this papier mache button.
Cotton thread is used to match the vintage atmosphere.
I think that Japanese fabrics are good fabrics with elaborate expressions that can be proud of to the world. Please try incorporating the good old things reborn as pants into your daily life.

*The fabric is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time, please wash it after soaking it, and put it in a net for dehydration and turn it lightly.
