NORA WORK PANTS~japan old indigo cotton stripe fabric~
Item : Pants
Fabric : Japan
Cotton
Handwoven
Meiji ~ Taisho period
Size : Waist : Maximum 76-82 cm (29.93-32.29 inches ). 76 cm is when the buckle is fully extended. 80 cm is when the buckle is not fastened.
Because the buckle strings are long, it is possible to make the smallest size even slimmer, but since any accumulated wrinkles will have to be removed only from the back, this may ruin the silhouette.
If you are concerned about the defect after purchase, we cannot accept returns or exchanges. Please check the "Returns and Fabric" section below and contact us.

These pants are made using old Japanese indigo-dyed fabric with a striped pattern.
The fabric is from a kimono woven around the Meiji to Taisho period.
The fabric is roughly hand-woven with thick cotton threads, giving it a unique, rugged look that is not seen in modern times. The thick threads give it a heavy look, and the fabric still retains a sense of tension. The indigo dye is still strong, so you can enjoy the changes in texture as well as the changes in the dye as you wear it.
I think the weave density is just right. If you adjust the inside in winter, you can wear it all year round.
The front buttons and back pocket are made of French metal buttons, and the top button is an antique French papier-mâché button made by compressing paper and hardening it with glue.
Japonism was originally popular in the West, and this papier-mâché was created with Japanese lacquerware in mind.
It is interesting to see these papier-mâché buttons on clothing made from old Japanese fabrics in the modern era, more than 100 years later. Each button is attached by hand using a root-wrapping technique.
The buckle is made from an old Japanese product. The buttonholes and bar closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. You can feel the warmth that cannot be achieved by machine.
Cotton thread is used to match the vintage atmosphere.
Compared to today's affluent times, the look of fabrics born in harsh times when poverty was all they had and the norms of the world were completely different gives them a unique atmosphere that could not be created even if one wanted to, and I think Japanese fabrics are wonderful, elaborate fabrics that can be proudly shown off to the world. Please try feeling the fabric that has been reborn as pants.
Why not try incorporating some good old things that are no longer available in modern times into your daily life?
*This piece was sewn with an old treadle sewing machine. You may not notice it at first glance, but I hope you enjoy the loose stitches that can only be achieved with manual, not electric, sewing.
*The fabric is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please wash it by soaking it in water and spin-dry it gently in a laundry net.
