This piece was created using old Japanese linen cloth, with the image of a work jacket that would have been made in an era before the birth of mass production processes, when various things had not yet developed, regardless of the country.
The fabric is linen kimono, which was worn during the Meiji and Taisho periods.
The warp threads are indigo-dyed linen threads, the white threads are silk threads, and the weft threads are indigo-dyed linen threads.
The fabric is hand-woven using thin linen threads, giving it a unique texture with a soft, swaying movement, and the inclusion of silk threads gives it a somewhat sophisticated feel.
The fabric is densely woven with thin threads and looks light at first glance, but it has a sturdy and atmospheric feel to it. The texture that feels like the cloth is falling under the weight of the fabric is exceptional.
In order to take advantage of the texture of the outer fabric, we use old linen cloth for the lining, and use linen cloth for all other small parts, increasing the number of areas that are hand-sewn.
The buttons are old Japanese wood buttons dyed with ink , and the power buttons are shell buttons, each of which is attached by hand with a neck wrap. The buttonholes and button closures are hand-sewn to match the feel of the old fabric. I think you can feel something like warmth that cannot be produced by a machine.
Cotton thread is used to match the vintage atmosphere.
Compared to today's prosperous times, the fabrics that were born in harsh times when people were poor and had nothing else but the world was completely different, have a unique atmosphere that can only be created at that time even if you wanted to, and I think that Japanese fabrics are wonderful fabrics that are made by people and can be proud of to the world. Please feel the fabric that has been reborn as a jacket .
Why not try incorporating good old things into your daily life that are not found in modern times?
*This piece was sewn using an old treadle sewing machine. You might not be able to tell at first glance, but we hope you enjoy the loose seams that are produced by hand rather than electric power.
*This is a fabric that is over 100 years old. In order to enjoy it for a long time to come, please soak it in the wash before washing, and spin it gently by placing it in a net for dehydration.
